Permanent Childcare

Duties

The Nanny, aka In-home carer can be expected to take care of all childcare requirements and child related domestic requirement. Should other household tasks be required this should be discussed filly in the initial stages and taken into consideration regarding the wage. This is applicable in positions such as Nanny /Housekeeper where the Nanny does full childcare before and after school and housekeeping duties in between.

Note –The Household management component cannot be claimed for ccb and ccr rebates – only the child care component.

Casual Night Carers aka Babysitters are employed on a casual basis only. Their duties are to mind the children in the absence of the  parents. They are limited to duties such feeding children, reading to them and settling into bed.

 

Your Responsibilities

Government regulations are very explicit in the area of taxation work cover and superannuation. If you employ staff then you must ensure that all your responsibilities have been satisfied.
The agency can advise you further, however your accountant can offer you the most up to date professional advice.

Other responsibilities you need to consider for permanent placements are annual leave and sick leave.
Please remember that a good employee is worth looking after and that only a responsible employer can expect the same in return.
