Activities with the kids - ACMI family Sundays

Each month, ACMI in Melbourne comes up with a different theme to engage children in a variety of fun activities that stimulate their creativity. Explore everything from fantasy and fables to Star Wars and superheroes and join hands-on workshops in filmmaking, animation, crafty projects, performance and song, live video game competitions and more.

Whether it’s creating YouTube videos, painting a virtual reality masterpiece in 3D with Google's Tilt Brush tool, or singing ‘Frozen songs’ in a round of karaoke - it gives your kid a unique chance to use its imagination and dive into the worlds of moving pictures and visual arts.

Up in the green screen studios, kids get the chance to feel like a footy star and kick that goal, with crowds roaring in the background. Or let them dream of becoming an astronaut in the VR simulated space station. Creative kids can learn how to craft their own comic books. There’s something for everyone, no matter what they’re into.

If you had enough action, you can head to the cinemas as they are screening family-friendly films all day long, or take a break at the bar and café.

ACMI stands for the Australian Centre for the Moving Image and it’s Australia's national museum of film, video games, digital culture and art. Located right in Federation Square in the heart of Melbourne, it’s a place to immerse yourself in the new worlds of animation, VR and visual arts, with numerous exhibitions and screenings.

Some all-time family favorites at ACMI include the Screen Worlds permanent exhibition as well as the Kids’ Flicks program designed especially for the little ones. Both are happening during Family Sundays, so you get even more out of your visit.

For more info and the full program, visit the ACMI website.
