In the family’s words

We have two children, aged 2 years and 6 weeks. Mom is on maternity leave for the rest of 2022.  We are looking for a nanny to provide active care for our 2 year old toddler, on days when Dad is working in the office (Tues, Wed and/or Thu) and whilst Mom cares for our newborn baby at our home. Some ad hoc support for Mom with our baby may be required at times, but the number one priority would be to care for our toddler. In the long term, especially when Mom returns to part time work in early 2023, the nanny’s role may gradually include caring for both our children.

The nanny's top priority would be to care for our 2 year old, including: - engaging in play-based, educational activities (reading, singing, etc) - preparing meals/snacks; - nappy changing (and toilet training when our toddler is ready); - bathing/showering; and - supervising and spending time with our toddler generally. Mom may need some support, especially over time, with the baby, e.g., settling baby when mom is pumping/showering. We would also appreciate help with some light housework related to the children, where time permits, including: - laundry - washing and cleaning up after meals - keeping play areas and toys clean and tidy (we have a regular cleaner)

Ideal traits

  • Attentive and organised (our home is very organised)
  •  Calm, patient, caring and engaging with children
  • Practises and able to teach good hygiene, cleanliness and tidiness
  • Experience with toilet training
  • Qualification in early childhood or relevant experience or knowledge of child development (e.g., 4 engaging in age-appropriate educational activities)
  • Comfortable in working alongside Mom at our home but able to also work independently
  • Passionate about nutrition and cooking/meal prepping for children

Non-Negotiables

  • Experience with young children and ideally infants
  • High awareness of child safety and risks
  • Fully vaccinated against Covid (i.e., 3 doses) and whooping cough
  • Valid working with children and police checks
  • Valid first aid certificate and CPR
  • At least 2 professional references
  • Native in English (we are a bilingual family and would like our children to gain more exposure to the English language)
