
Weekend Nanny in Rockbank (NAIDG)
Job Type: Part Time
Location: Rockbank, Victoria
Required Hours per Week: 14 Hours
Days and Hours Required: Sat 1pm-8pm and Sun 1:30pm-8:30pm
Family with 4 children but 3 children has autism. Mum needs an extras set of hands, husband works full time around the clock and mum can't concentrate or focus on all the children at one time. Role is available now and ongoing.

- Patience: Autism can bring about unique challenges, and patience is essential when working with children who have ASD. Looking for A caregiver who will be able to remain calm and composed even in challenging situations.
- Empathy: The ability to understand and empathize with my children's needs, emotions, and experiences is key. Empathetic caregivers can provide the emotional support necessary for my children's development.
- Understanding of Autism: Look for someone with knowledge and experience in dealing with autism.
- Flexibility: Every child with autism is different, so the caregiver should be adaptable and willing to adjust their approach to meet each child's unique needs.
- Effective Communication: Good communication skills are vital to ensure that the caregiver can understand your instructions, as well as effectively communicate with your children, who might have different communication styles. Someone who can speak good English and is able to also understand is very important when working with my children and for me to be able to effectively communicate my children’s needs is crucial.
- Positive Reinforcement: A nanny or support worker should be skilled in using positive reinforcement techniques to encourage desired behaviors and help with learning and development.
- Consistency: Consistency in routines and approaches can provide a sense of security for children with autism. A caregiver should be able to maintain a stable and predictable environment.
- Safety Awareness: Being vigilant about safety is paramount, as some children with autism may engage in behaviors that could be harmful to themselves or others. A caregiver should be capable of preventing potential hazards. Team Player: If your children are part of a broader support network, the caregiver should be willing and able to work collaboratively with therapists, teachers, and other professionals involved in their care.
- Reliability and Dependability: You'll need a caregiver who is punctual and reliable, as consistency in caregiving is critical for your children's well-being.
- Cultural Sensitivity: Consider the caregiver's cultural sensitivity, as it can be important to ensure your children's values and cultural background are respected.
- First Aid and CPR Certification: While not mandatory, having a caregiver with first aid and CPR certification can provide extra peace of mind in case of emergencies.
- References and Background Check: Always check references and perform a background check to ensure the caregiver has a clean record and a positive history of working with children.

You will have:
- A minimum 3 years' full-time experience in the Childcare Industry working as a Nanny, Child Carer, Child Educator or in similar positions
- Current Level 2 First Aid Certificate issued in Australia
- Current Victorian Working With Children Check for Employees
- National Police Clearance issued within 12 months in Australia
- Permanent Australian residency or a valid working visa
- Flexibility, commitment and a great work ethic
- Full vaccination status
