Child Wise is a not for profit organisation that works to protect children from child abuse.
Child Wise has an excellent array of training resources - check out Child Wise training-programs for more information.
Child Wise, one of Australia’s leading childhood sexual abuse prevention organisations, is one of the many organisations engaged and supported by the Department of Social Service to deliver information, support and counselling for those impacted by childhood sexual abuse.
Department of Social Services funding facilitated the launch in 2013 of Child Wise’s telephone counselling service, the Starting Point Helpline. The helpline is staffed by experience counsellors that understand the impact of childhood abuse, and who have the skills to offer informed support to victims, their family, their friends, and the extended community. It also is available to professionals and staff associated with institutions where abuse occurred.
Any individual impacted by institutional childhood sexual abuse is encouraged to contact Starting Point Helpline. In addition to the telephone service, support can be accessed via email, Facebook, and the Child Wise website. Our website (www.childwise.net) includes links to the Royal Commission and a directory of national support services.
The Starting Point Helpline is only effective in supporting people within the local, rural and remote community if they know about the service.
