5 ways to celebrate International Nanny Recognition Week

Nanny-Educators do much more than keep households running smoothly. They guide, comfort, encourage and help children feel safe, valued and confident. International Nanny Recognition Week (INNRW)is the perfect opportunity to pause and acknowledge their contribution to family life.

1. Say it out loud

Sometimes the simplest gesture means the most. A genuine, spoken or written thank you goes a long way.

2. Share a specific memory

Tell them about a moment that stood out to you this year, something they did or said that made a difference to your family.

3. A letter they'll keep

Help your child put into words, or pictures, what they love most about their nanny educator. A little something sweet they can keep and treasure long after the week is over.

4. The favourites basket

Put together a small basket of a few specific things you know they genuinely love, their favourite snack, a book, coffee, a candle scent, rather than a generic gift.

5. Gift an experience

Offer an activity they will enjoy, such as a pottery class, yoga session or gallery visit. Experiences create lasting memories and show you have considered their interests.

A brief history of International Nanny Recognition Week

National Nanny Recognition Week (NNRW)  began in 1998, started by a small group of people who shared a passion for the in-home childcare industry. Each year, the last week of September is set aside to recognise Nannies, encouraging families, businesses and the media to focus on the positive side of the profession, and the meaningful role nannies play in the lives of the children and families they care for.

Take a moment this week to say thank you, whether it's a handmade card, a favourite treat, flowers, or simply your time. It isn't about how much you spend, it's about acknowledging everything your nanny brings to your family, every single day.

While we're on the subject of thank yous, we wanted to say one too. Thank you for recognising the value a Nanny- Educator brings to your family, and for choosing to employ them through an agency that looks after their employment entitlements the way they deserve. We're proud to stand alongside families like yours, celebrating nanny educators around the world this week.
