Activities with the kids - Family Days at Collingwood Childrens' Farm

ACTIVITIES

Every first Sunday of the month, the Collingwood Children’s Farm, located by Melbourne’s quaint Yarra river, is hosting a special day for the whole family.

With lots fun and hands-on activities, this is a great opportunity to give urban kids a glimpse into the life on a farm. From pony rides, tractor rides, guinea pig cuddles and milking the cows, there’s something that will make every kid’s eyes shine.

Apart from that, the Collingwood crew is putting on a great value BBQ for everyone to enjoy at affordable prices.

To make sure you don’t miss your favorite activity, here’s the family day time table:

  • pony rides: 10.30am to 2pm (not on school holiday or during Term 3)

  • tractor rides: 10.30am to 2.30pm

  • guinea pig cuddles: 11.45am - 12.15pm, 1.30 - 2.15pm and 3.15 - 3.45pm

  • Help milk the cow: 10am and 4pm

  • BBQ lunch: starting at 11.30am until sold out

Come out for a day, where the kids can run around and cuddle the animals while parents can relax, enjoy a coffee and indulge in some delicious food at The Farm Cafe. All food is made from scratch and ingredients are sourced locally or directly from the farm.

MORE ABOUT THE FARM

The Collingwood Children’s Farm is a peaceful place to take the kids and escape the hustle of urban life. It brings country experiences to the city folks and is a great option for a family day out.

It is nestled on a bend of the scenic Yarra River, just 5km from Melbourne city centre. It spreads over seven hectares, filled with gardens, orchards, paddocks, rustic buildings and shady trees.

The farm is a not-for-profit community project that was founded in 1979 and is open all year. Every day visitors get the chance to wander around, help milking the cow, bottle feed young lambs, feed the chooks, learn about the farm chores, take the sheep and goats out into the paddocks, waddle with the ducks, look for eggs, cuddle the guinea pigs or just relax under a shady tree by the river.

Extra Tip: The Farm also hosts an outstanding farmers’ market every second Saturday of the month from 8am to 1pm.
